"They'll call you, email you, and send a letter. They're doing something to let you know what's going on with your child," [Tina Hammond] said.

"For a long time people thought that Ren Ten charter schools were selective enrollment schools, that children had to be tested or a fee required. There's no fee, no testing. They're not boundary schools," she noted in reference to the fact that Ren Ten schools are not neighborhood-specific.
