"It's clear he's had ample access to telephones, to his family [and to] a private lawyer," First Assistant State's Attorney Robert Milan said.

Raising his hand to get the judge's attention, [Reginald Potts] said that because of the "so-called high profile case" it's "unfair" for him to be housed in a division with inmates who have behavioral problems, especially since he has not exhibited any disciplinary behavior while in custody.

"You go through a certain level of anger. We want to lash out, but that's not the right thing to do. If you do lash out, then you're no better than him," said Dwayne Johnson, Franklin's uncle said.

The ex-boyfriend of Nailah Franklin was indicted Friday of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, vehicular hijacking and robbery, spokesman for the Cook County State's Attorney's office said.
