Forget the apologies and calls for President George W. Bush to denounce the television ads that question John Kerry's actions during the Vietnam War. The Democratic presidential nominee should go on an all-out blitz to destroy Bush and all of his supporters who seek to do the same to him.

Just ask Sen. John McCain. When the Arizona Republican was putting a lot of heat on Bush in 2000 Republican Party, the campaign of the then-Texas governor started hammering at the former Vietnam prisoner-of-war, questioning his fitness for office. Many believe that Bush's tough guy stance against McCain prevented the out-of-the-box senator from gaining traction. Of course, the rest is history.
