Summary
Our small staff - Karen Pride, Theresa Fambro Hooks, Kenon White, Diona Jackson, Jackie Sengstacke, CleArthur Harris, Kim Hunter, Earl Calloway, Ayana Haaruun, David Alan Harris, Thomas Picou and yours truly -- worked feverishly to get this issue out of the door. We were joined by contributors Corey Hall, Leslie Jones McCloud, Alphonzo Stein, Rhonda Jones and Ken Smikle, the founder of Target Market News.
Mr. Johnson said that he was always an avid reader of the Chicago Defender, and it was the paper that brought him to Chicago, which he said he was eternally grateful for. When we began to discuss the two new magazines we launched several months ago, his eyes lit up and he said, "I haven't seen those!" He then proceeded to tell the three of us that he read the Chicago Defender every day and when there wasn't an issue at the corner newsstand, he would send an employee down the street or even to our offices to buy his paper.
