Summary
It was those great urban poets, Dead Prez, who were able to articulate what was happening in our community. They were giving a perspective on the blues-based experience of African Americans when they said, "It's bigger than hip hop." And so, what we want to talk about today is this thing that is-bigger than hip hop. It's not just hip hop we are dealing with. We are dealing with the whole corporate conglomerate that is utilizing our community's pain in order to enrich themselves.
