Designed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for African American audiences and featuring American musical elements, the "Classical Tapestry" series will offer a special performance at Symphony Center, Thursday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. Pianist Wayne Marshall will perform George Gershwin's Concerto in F for Piano and Orchestra with guest conductor Paavo Jarvi on the podium.

On Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m., conductor Jarvi will again accompany Marshall in Gershwin's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. These two evenings officially kick off CSO's "Classical Tapestry" subscription series.

Marshall's interpretation of Gershwin, Bernstein, Ellington and other 20th century American composers is fabulous. He has appeared as conductor or conductor/soloist with the Bournemouth Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and London Philharmonic orchestras in addition to the Hong Kong Philharmonic, New Sinfonietta Amsterdam, Vienna Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony, Orchestre National de Belgique, Berliner Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester, Nordeutscher Rundfunkorchester and Flemish Radio Symphony.
