Dorothy Brown Could Make a Bid for County Board President

"I am certainly encouraged to run now that Commissioner [Forrest Claypool] is not running," [Dorothy Brown] said. "But my decision on whether to run or not was never based on him or anyone else running."

"I would prefer to take either candidate ([Todd Stroger] or [Toni Preckwinkle]) one-onone," Brown said. "But regardless, people will vote across racial lines and the next county board president will need to be able to win countywide support, not just the Black vote."

"Proven leadership ability is what is needed to lead the county out of this financial crisis," Brown said. "I feel that I have this and that is why I am taking a serious look at running."

During a recent editorial board meeting with the Chicago Defender, Brown, a certified public accountant, said there a number of offices under the county board president's purview that need to be better managed.
