United States at Crossroads: Changing the Conversation for a Stronger Urban America

Summary


What does mis tell us? That in just four years Americans of all colors have lost even more faith in the system. That we are a nation at a crossroads. We have two choices - either go down the path we're on and be resigned to the consequences of producing a society of haves and have-nots - or redirect our energies toward effecting change and delivering upon the promise made over 230 years ago that all Americans should have equal opportunity to achieve the American dream.

That is why the National Urban League is now extending its reach past providing programs for and becoming the voice for urban America in Washington, D.C. We want to put our expertise to broader use at the national, state and local governmental levels. We want to play the pivotal role in putting urban America back on the path of greatness. And we expect our future president to feel the same as we do about the importance of this mission to revitalize our urban communities and close the equality gaps.
