Black Teachers File Eeoc Complaint Against Cps

Summary

Several public school teachers filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against the Chicago Public Schools alleging the "turnaround" policy of the school district's Renaissance 2010 initiative has resulted in discrimination against African American teachers.

"Statistical analysis shows mere's a negative impact on Black teachers. Acceptable recourse would be for the Boanf of Education to cease the turnaround policy and give those who were wrongfully displaced a position at schools with openings," said Jackson Potter, co-chair of the CORE and former teacher at Englewood High School before it was shuttered in 2005 . He is now on staff at Greater Lawndale High School for Social Justice.
