"We've been working hard in the legislature this year to try to get a cost-of-doing-business increase," [Nancy Shier] said. "We believe [it] is on the table as part of the conversation that's happening to finalize the state budget."

"I'm a former child welfare agency director, so of course I have strong feelings," said state Senate Assistant Majority Leader Miguel Del Valle (D-Chicago). "We'll see what the negotiators come up with when we go back to Springfield next week."
